Rescue Me ID: 15-01-16-00535DJH Jack (male)

Vizsla Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jack is one of four pups (two boys, two girls) born on April 19th to a purebred Great Pyrenees who had celebrated Valentine's Day with a very handsome dog having a long nose, short red hair and amber eyes.  We're not sure what he was because no one besides the GP saw him. But the pups are gorgeous! Each one has "DJH" as the first "family ID" of his or her name. 5-5-13 UPDATE: Today we took all four "DHL" pups [plus four more big pups]  to Spring Fling in Gainesville's beautiful Leonard Park. We combined two panel pens for confining these guys. Then the crowds arrived. To our joy and amazement, ... (Read More)these pups were WONDERFUL with children! They'd never seen kids, here at the farm, but they were giving "free puppy kisses" through the cyclone fence to sweet toddler faces pressed close to share! LOL And they learned (or re-learned) to go on the leash for walks around the park, wearing "Adopt me" blankets! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-05-00625Belle (female)

Vizsla Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed

Belle is an amazing dog and it breaks our heart to have to give her up. Belle has been with us since she has been a puppy and is a big part of our family (she is now 3.5 years old). The reason we have to give Belle up is we just had our first baby girl 7 months ago and today Belle snipped at her for the first time ever. They have been best friends since day one and we are really surprised by it. I want to keep her as I feel it's an isolated incident but the wife does not feel comfortable anymore. Belle has never displayed any aggression to anyone before and is super friendly. She is trained as well as potty trained in the house. She loves to ... (Read More)play catch and go on walks around the neighborhood. When she is in the house she is super calm and enjoys laying on her bed and have a nice nap. Belle is a treat to come home to as she is always excited to see you. We want to make sure to find her a great home since she really is an amazing dog. Right now we have her at our home but she is outside or in a separate room from the baby due to my wife being cautious. We have to find Belle a forever home very soon so she can be in an open and friendly environment! (Less)

Animal ID: JHJoela (female)

Vizsla Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Joela is a 2 year old Vizsla/Treeing Walker Coonhound mix. She is 44 pounds, heartworm negative, spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. She is a beautiful and sweet girl who is full of love and kisses. She loves to be as close to her foster mom as possible. If she could be a lap dog she totally would be! Joela is extremely friendly with everyone she meets. She loves people and gives all the kids she meets lots and lots of kisses. She enjoys going for walks and she love, love, LOVES going to the dog park. She even has perfect dog park manners! Joela would love a home where ... (Read More)she could go for regular walks and/or visit the dog park on a regular basis. She would also make a great running buddy! Because she still has a bit of puppy energy, she would not do well in a home with young children or the elderly because she may knock them down when she gets excited, but she would do great in a home with another dog to play with! Joela has been left alone in the house for short periods of time and she does very well. She doesn't show any signs of separation anxiety and she waits patiently for her foster mom to return. She also seems to be housebroken. If you prefer to keep her crated while you're gone she is completely crate trained as well. Joela is also not a big barker. Her foster mom didn't even know she could bark the first couple of weeks she had her! She does well when walking on a leash. She pulls a little bit when she smells something she really likes, but usually she walks at a brisk, but even pace. She's also a good car rider. After a minute she just lays down in the back seat and stays until you reach your destination. Joela is a smart girl. She knows how to sit, lay down and shake hands. She is currently working on a few additional commands and doing very well. She is eager to please and picks things up quickly. She can be a bit stubborn at times, but it's nothing that a good treat can't cure'|one of her favorite things to do is learn tricks for treats! Joela has had a few seizures while in foster care. She only seems to have one every 4-6 weeks so she doesn't require any medication. They last about 3 minutes and then she is back to being a totally normal dog the rest of the time. The seizures don't limit her ability in any way. If you're looking for a dog with a TON of personality and charm and if you're looking for a dog to be your exercise buddy or playmate for your dog'|Joela may be just the right girl for you. (Less)

Hey Ya'll, I'm Romeo! I am a lover and not a fighter. I just want someone to please and be treated the same way in return. I used to live in a backyard with 3 other dogs attached to a chain and not being treated very nicely. But I don't hold my past against anyone! I love all people and I would really love to have my own warm bed :) I get along great with other dogs but I have never met a kitty so I am not sure how I feel about felines. Please contact LAP if you can provide a loving, safe home for Romeo. You will not be disappointed! If you are interested in providing a loving home to this pet please complete the L.A.P. application ... Vizsla Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Who is Curious George? Well, he's everyone's favorite monkey! Who am I? Well, I'm everyone's favorite puppy! My rescuers at Red Collar named me Curious George as they say I look inquisitive all the time. They love my soft wrinkles and my silky ears. They tell me my wrinkles make me look worried sometimes. Well, the only thing I'm worried about it finding a forever home! I'm about 10 months old and I'm sweet, gentle and playful. I walk very well on a leash, impressive really as I'm still a young dog. I'm crate trained and house trained. I currently weigh about 40 pounds but I may grow a little bit more. I have the most beautiful golden green ... (Read More)eyes. I plan to use my adorable wrinkles and my gorgeous golden eyes to win over my forever family. I promise I will not disappoint. I'm probably a mix of boxer and adorable. So, can I stop worrying? Will you adopt me and let me be your favorite puppy? If you can foster or adopt Curious George, please contact us at: info@redcollar.org (Less)

Animal ID: KM-BettyBetty (female)

Vizsla Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Betty is a true survivor! Sole heiress to the throne in a small Turkish Province (the Queen was a dog lady), Betty was cast out of her Royal Family because she fell in love with a peasant hound and refused to abandon him, at all costs! As part of her banishment she was fashioned with a very tight metal cable around her neck and tied by rope from her neck to a remote cactus, deep in West Texas somewhere. She managed to survive by eating the cactus until she finally ate it down below the rope that held her captive. But the damage was done, she grew up tied to that cactus and her adult neck was now much bigger around than when the cable & rope ... (Read More)were tied on. Both had become nooses, cutting into her skin & leaving open wounds. When I found her she was dragging both, near starved to death and with a look of fear and concern in her eyes that would make anyone stop to help. She was so happy when I removed them that she ran as fast as she could in big circles and has been my best buddy every since! She's a very sweet girl who loves her people deeply and will do anything for you. She wants nothing more than to make you happy and she goes about doing it with such contagious joy that it makes you stop & smile. She loves to play and is a pretty goofy girl, jumping and circling as if she's putting on a show for you. Betty will make a great addition to any family so come meet her today and get a glimpse of what true royalty is all about! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Vizsla in Texas
Vizsla Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Vizsla is an elegantly proportioned hunting dog. Vizslas are affectionate family companions and are wonderful with active children. Vizsla usually get along well with other dogs and can be socialized to get along with cats, but have an instinct to hunt smaller animals such as gerbils or rabbits. Vizslas may become nervous if not thoroughly socialized and given plenty of exercise and attention. Vizslas need a good sized yard.
