Animal ID: 6796Gala (female)

Vizsla Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Are you lookig for your next best friend? Well, look no further. Gala is the life of the party. She's got a sparkling personality and a sense of humor, and you would be hard-pressed to find a smarter pup. And talk about lovable - this pup's devotion knows no bounds. She's looking for someone with a heart as big as hers and a little dog experience who can handle her enthusiasm and endless affection. Gala is two years old, 45 pounds, athletic, intelligent, and full of personality. This devoted, sensitive girl is a first rate walking/running/hiking partner who also enjoys snuggling on the couch (she's an Eagles fan). Gala loves to go for car ... She doesn't like people to sneak up to her, so slow introductions are best, but once you she knows you, her devotion knows no bounds. If you're looking for a home-security system, Gala's your girl. This clever pup could learn just about any trick. She also knows sit, stay, and come command, and is working on her indoor manners. A dog-savy cat could probably tolerate Gala (she lives peaceably with one now), but not a scaredy-cat. Her boundless energy, smarts and devotion make her a once-in-a-lifetime dog who will need an experienced dog person who is patient and committed. Gala tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue, although she did not display physical symptoms. While in foster care, she received treatment and is now heartworm negative! Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Vizsla in Pennsylvania
Vizsla Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The Vizsla is an elegantly proportioned hunting dog. Vizslas are affectionate family companions and are wonderful with active children. Vizsla usually get along well with other dogs and can be socialized to get along with cats, but have an instinct to hunt smaller animals such as gerbils or rabbits. Vizslas may become nervous if not thoroughly socialized and given plenty of exercise and attention. Vizslas need a good sized yard.

The Vizsla is a Hungarian working dog. The Vizsla is largely descended from the ancient Transylvanian Hound. The Vizsla is partly descended from the extinct Turkish Yellow Dog. The Vizsla was a symbol of the Hungarian aristocracy. Hungarians worried that Russian invaders would kill off all the Vizsla during World War II.
