Rescue Me ID: 15-07-09-00210Ruby (female)

Vizsla Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I'm Ruby. When you hear my name, you might think of gems and jewels - well my foster Mom would tell you that my name suits me perfectly. I arrived at my foster home, sick, injured, and extremely frightened. I'm so grateful my foster family took the time and were so patient with helping me come out of my shell. Although I have a long way to go, I have grown so much in the time I have been here, and I'm finally learning that it's okay to play, and that people come back after they leave. I am quite shy at first (with people and dogs), but once I get to know you and bond with you, I'll love you to pieces - velcro style! My foster Mom would also ... (Read More)like you to know that I am a sweet, gentle, goofy, vulnerable girl, who desperately wants to please my people. I love to learn and know the commands Sit, Wait, Down, and Leave It. While crated, I need the door to be left open and I don't like being left home alone. We've been working hard on reducing my separation anxiety, and my foster family can now leave me for short stints. I am a full-contact snuggler and would never turn down some good old fashioned rubbing or scratching. No area of my body is 'off limits,' but because of my healing injuries, a gentle touch is appreciated. I spend a lot of time on my back with my feet in the air, and LOVE rolling around in the grass. I'm still a puppy, and have lots of learning ahead of me about what's off limits, and what's okay. I would benefit immensely from an obedience course. My foster family has already seen my confidence grow by leaps and bounds when I have clear, gently reinforced boundaries. I'm very submissive, so gentle reinforcements are most helpful to advance my learning. Food, treats, and toys are my best motivators - here are some ideas in case you are making a list: bones, Kongs, peanut butter, and squeaky toys. Fun fact: I like to chase my toys and return them to the safety of my bed, where I sleep with them for a good part of the day! My ideal adopter will be patient, kind, loving, and up for the challenge of helping me adjust to life as a beloved pet. I need a home where someone works from home, works part-time, or has an at-home parent so I am not left alone for long periods during the day. I promise that the rewards of taking me home will multiply and grow beyond your wildest dreams. If you'd like to meet me, please fill out the online app today! Adoption fee is $225 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Adoption fees also allow us to continue saving animals. Please email ARRColorado@gmail.com for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Vizsla in Colorado
Vizsla Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Vizsla is an elegantly proportioned hunting dog. Vizslas are affectionate family companions and are wonderful with active children. Vizsla usually get along well with other dogs and can be socialized to get along with cats, but have an instinct to hunt smaller animals such as gerbils or rabbits. Vizslas may become nervous if not thoroughly socialized and given plenty of exercise and attention. Vizslas need a good sized yard.
